A peek into Caterpillar Studio!

Here's where I make my dolls!  This is an upstairs room where I sculpt, sew, and costume all my dolls.  I fire polymer in the Studio too.  I also have a set up in the basement for pouring and firing porcelain that I'll post at another time.  The Guild store is also in the basement.  Hope you like the tour.

Back in the Saddle!

I took a hiatus from dolls for a while and did some renovations to my house and had shoulder surgery but I'm back.  I took over the Fantasy Art Guild in October 2011 and started an online doll supply store in December 2011.  Both are going well and starting March 5th, I'm hosting an online class making Alice in Wonderland.  Looking forward to that!  I'll post my pics here when I have stuff to show.

Good to be back!

Lexi's Mermaid

Spent some time with my 12 yr old niece, Lexi, making a little mermaid with her.  It was a fun project and she is very proud of our little creation.

Attended IDEX!

Went to IDEX with Patricia Rose, Faith Tillbrook and Deena Peterson to IDEX.  We had a great time.  There were lots of booths!  It covered babies, Barbies, BJDs, porcelain, polymer clay, vinyl, fantasy, miniature, life-size, even some plush dolls and teddies...the whole sha-bang!  There was also a doll supply section.  They had lots of goodies like clothes and jewelry.  We even attended an evening program for IGMA (International Guild of Miniature Artisans).  It was interesting.  Got to see old friends and made some new ones!  We saw some great dolls.  Here is one of my favorites.  Check out that price tag!  LOL  And it was already SOLD!  Patricia did some negotiating with this artist about doing some faces for her.

Merry Christmas to Me! Thanks Patricia!

I am one lucky gal!  My dear friend, Patricia Rose, gave me a Missy doll for Christmas!  She's a porcelain BJD that sells for $1800.  I am over-the-top happy!!  She is stunning!!  THANK YOU PATRICIA!  I LOVE HER!!  XOXOXOXO!

Hosted another Workshop for Patricia Rose

Had another weekend workshop.  This time we did it at Patricia's house in Florida.  Met some great gals and we had a blast.  We focused on sculpting portrait faces.  Everyone brought their own favorite pics of a celebrity, model, or family member and she taught how to make accurate reproductions.  It was interesting and very fun.  We had lots of laughs and I brought pics of Kate Blanchette but I think my face looks like a man!  LOL  I should have picked a better model!

Deb Wood to take over IADR!

It's been a great ride but I'm ready for a break.  I started IADR 2 years ago next month and I've found a great successor.  Deb Wood will take over IADR on October 1st.  She will make a great president.  She's very talented and a natural leader.  I am looking forward to some R&R and maybe I'll get some sculpting done!  I'll still be hosting the workshop in Tampa next month with Patricia Rose!  See you there!

Hugs!

Fun with Patricia!

Spent a few days with Patricia.  She's such a treat!  Lovely gal, lovely home.  We ate fresh seafood, watched movies, ate ice cream (lots), had some wine (lots), and did lots of sculpting too.  Love her to death!  We also played with her BJDs!  Now that was fun!!  Like playing with Barbies!  A little wine and dolls and we were TOO SILLY!

NIADA/ODACA Shows

Debbie and I headed to Chicago for the weekend to attend the NIADA and ODACA shows.  We were disappointed.  Both shows were small and the artists we wanted to see didn't even attend!!  But we did get to see a friend, Kori Leppart Butts, who sold that pretty doll shortly after the show opened for $1000!  Congrats, Kori!  Then we skipped out on the shows and ate Indian food and saw some of Chicago.  We had a GREAT view from our hotel.  And they were making Transformers 3 in the city so that was kind of cool to see the movie sets and special effects!

Chicago Miniature Show!

Went to the Chicago Miniature Show!  Wow!  UNBELIEVABLE!!  It was HUGE!  So many cool things!  Dollhouses and tiny things.  Little laces and fabrics.  Even some polymer clay dolls (not dollhouse scale).  Met up with pals Debbie McCain, Patricia Rose and Deena Peterson for the weekend!  Had a great time!  Spent way too much money!  I would love to go again!
